Thorne names spokesperson; says new senator to be appointed

Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne named a new team of spokespersons during his maiden address on the final day of the 69th annual conference of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) held Sunday.

Thorne who is the party’s political leader said the business of the DLP must go on even as the conference was marred by controversy over the past two days.

The Spokesperson are as follows:

Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne: Finance, Public Sector and Urban Development
Senator Ryan Walters: Energy, Small Business Development, Entrepreneurship and Housing
Former president Verla De Peiza: Attorney General and Home Affairs
Acting president Andre Worrell: Health
3rd Vice President Felicia Dujon: Education
Acting general secretary Pedro Shepherd: Transport, Public Works and Rural Development
Former minister David Estwick: Economic Affairs, International Business and Investment
Alvin Toppin: Culture
Amoy Gilding-Bourne: Agriculture
Former candidate Andrew Cave: Maritime Affairs
Former candidate Paul Gibson: The Environment
Former candidate Neil Marshall: Labour and Industrial Relations
Former vice president of Young Democrats Shaquani Hunte: Youth Affairs
Former candidate: Dawn-Marie Armstrong: Sports
Simon Clarke: Community Development and Social Welfare
Former minister Richard Sealy: Tourism and International Transport

During his address Thorne also announced that a new Senator will be appointed to The Senate when it resumes business in September. (RG)
