Tint testing resumes at two sites from Monday

The Barbados Licensing Authority (BLA) will resume vehicle tint testing at two designated sites from Monday, September 8, as part of efforts to help motorists comply with the new tint regulations.

Testing will be conducted at Granny’s Car Park in Oistins, Christ Church, and the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) Car Park in West Terrace, St James. Both locations will operate from Monday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., throughout the three-month moratorium currently in place on enforcement of the regulations.

Vehicle owners are encouraged to have their tints tested during this period to ensure compliance with the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles) (Windscreens and Windows) Regulations, 2025, which set the following Visible Light Transmission (VLT) standards:

• Front windscreen: minimum 70 per cent VLT

• Front-side windows (behind the driver): minimum 25 per cent VLT

• Rear windscreen and other windows: minimum 20 per cent VLT

A three per cent margin of error will be allowed during testing.

The BLA is urging all vehicle owners to take advantage of the testing phase to avoid future penalties. (BLA/BT)
