Barbados has awarded eight national scholarships, 21 exhibitions, and one Award of Excellence to top-performing students in the 2025 Caribbean examinations.
The awards were announced on Friday during a ceremony at the Ministry of Educational Transformation’s MRD Auditorium, where Educational Transformation Minister Chad Blackman congratulated the winners and urged them to use their success to benefit the country.
“You have proven to the country that you are exceptional,” he told the students.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. The challenge is how you will use this certification to ensure that Barbados and the wider Caribbean benefit in a significant way.”
Blackman said the Ministry will track the progress of this year’s awardees for up to 10 years, stressing the need for accountability and national contribution.
He also reminded students that their competition is global and called on them to keep raising their standards.
Harrison College led this year’s awards with three scholarships and eight exhibitions, followed by Barbados Community College with four scholarships, five exhibitions and the Award of Excellence.
Queen’s College earned one scholarship and seven exhibitions, and The St Michael School gained one exhibition. (SM)
