Having clinched the boys’ title during the Dasani BSSAC Championships for a third consecutive year and finished third among the girls, Combermere celebrated in fine style with a motorcade through various St Michael districts on Tuesday.
Following the motorcade’s departure from Waterford, it travelled along the Station Hill area and onto Roebuck Street, where numerous shoppers paused their activities to take in the spectacle.

Urged on by the deejay on the music truck, students saved their loudest celebrations for the Crumpton Street area, where several dozen students of arch rivals Harrison College were seen observing the motorcade and cheering for their fellow students.
From there the motorcade proceeded into the heart of Bridgetown, before making its way back to the school.
Speaking to Barbados TODAY before the start of the motorcade, head of the Physical Education department, Michael Small highlighted his school’s outstanding achievement.
“Three in a row for the boys; I am not sure which school might have last done that. It might be Harrison College, but it’s a big reason to celebrate.
Anytime you win three titles in a row, that should be celebrated,” Small said.

Girls’ champions, The St Michael School, staged their motorcade yesterday and made a brief stop at Combermere, with both sets of students celebrating at the entrance.
“Yes, it’s our turn today, and I thoroughly enjoyed what occurred yesterday with St Michael’s School.I would hope to see something like that again in the future and with other schools also,” Small said.
Small said Combermere realised quite early in the championship that they could be on course for another successful BSSAC title defense.
“We knew from coming into the campaign that we were chasing history and the team readily bought into it. As Mr (Jarad) Murray said, ‘We don’t have superstars as a team and so team Combermere, the team means together everyone achieves more.’ I think that’s what we did over the course of the days at the championship,” he explained.
A number of members of the school’s team will also depart the island on national duty over the next two days.
Nine students and coach Jarad Murray will be attending the CARIFTA athletic championships in Grenada to cap off a successful year for the unit.
