Several traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place on Wednesday to facilitate a motorcade from the Cheapside Post Office in The City to the headquarters of the Barbados Fire Service (BFS) at Pine Plantation Road, St Michael.
The Barbados Fire Service will officially open the Cadogan, Mayers, and Marshall Emergency Services Complex, which will also house the Emergency Ambulance Service and these changes will be in effect from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Police officers will be deployed on the day, to assist with all traffic management.
Anyone who contravenes these rules or fails to comply with any order given by a member of The Barbados Police Service in uniform, is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction, to a fine of $500 or to three months’ imprisonment.
These rules do not apply to vehicles used by The Barbados Police Service, the Barbados Defence Force, the Barbados Fire Service, or any emergency vehicle.
Traffic Delays
Expect traffic delays along the following roads:
a) Cheapside Road
b) Chapel Street
c) Broad Street
d) Fairchild Street
e) Lower Bay Street
f) Jemmotts Lane
g) Lower Collymore Rock
h) Pine Road
i) Government Hill
j) Pine Plantation Road
k) Pine East/West Boulevard
Partial Road Closure
The lane closest to the Fire Service Complex along Pine Plantation Road, from its junction with Collymore Rock to the traffic lights at the junction with Pine East West Boulevard, will be closed periodically from 2:00 pm until the close of the ceremony. (PR/SAT)
