Trashaun Atwell has lost his battle with acute myeloid leukaemia.
The 14-year-old was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday night and passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Trashaun, who attended The St Michael School, was diagnosed in July 2024 and was waiting on a bone marrow transplant. His story was featured in the Sunday Sun of July 26.
At the time, he had just celebrated another birthday and had a simple wish β to be cancer free, outside among relatives and friends, without them having to wear a mask.
βIβve become so accustomed to being sick on my birthday, itβs just another day. My wish would be to be cancer free . . . ,β he said.
Trashaun leaves to mourn his parents Tonia and Rasheed, siblings and other members of the family. (SAT)
