Barbadians who are prosecuted in foreign jurisdictions and found guilty of corruption or other serious crimes could still face legal consequences upon their return, director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Darwin Dottin has warned.
The former Commissioner of Police told the DAILY NATION in an exclusive interview there was potential for dual prosecution under certain circumstances. He pointed to the situation of former Cabinet minister Donville Inniss.
Inniss, a former Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, was found guilty by a jury in a New York court
on January 16, 2020, of two counts of money laundering and one count of conspiring to commit money laundering in relation to Government contracts awarded to the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Ltd (ICBL).
