Former reporter with the Nation Publishing Co Limited, Janice Griffith, was saluted for devotion to newsgathering, friendship and above all, family, yesterday during her funeral service.
It was attended by President of Barbados The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Senator Dr Shantal Munro-Knight (standing in for Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley who had to leave), and general secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union Toni Moore.
Moore was one of three people delivering tributes, the others being Dr Lisa McClean-Trotman and Roxanne Gibbs, former Executive Editor of the Nation.
Gibbs traced Griffith’s entry in the Nation to when she volunteered in the late 1980s after a chance visit with a friend and felt the call so strongly, she called the next day expressing her willingness to do anything.
