πππππππππ, ππ. ππ’π§πππ§π ππ§π ππ‘π ππ«ππ§πππ’π§ππ¬ β After 31 years of continuous publication, Searchlight newspaper will publish its final print edition and pause its digital editions on Friday, September 25, 2026, as Interactive Media Limited undertakes a review of the future direction of the Searchlight media operation.
The decision comes against the backdrop of profound changes in the global media industry, as newspapers around the world grapple with declining print circulation and advertising revenues, rising operating costs, and the continuing migration of audiences and advertisers to digital platforms.
Since its establishment in 1995, Searchlight has sought to provide the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines at home and abroad with credible, independent coverage of the issues and events shaping the nation. Over those 31 years, the newspaper has adapted repeatedly to changes in technology and the way audiences consume news, developing a strong presence across its website and social media platforms and introducing digital editions of the newspaper.
The Board of Directors of Interactive Media Limited has determined that the time has come for a more fundamental reassessment of the Searchlight operation and how the organisation can best respond to the realities of todayβs media environment, including the opportunities presented by digital media.
The Board recognises that this decision will affect employees, readers, advertisers and other longstanding partners of Searchlight, and deeply regrets the disruption it will cause.
We express our profound gratitude to our employees, readers, advertisers, vendors, subscribers, contributors and all those who have supported Searchlight over the past 31 years.
Further information concerning the Searchlight operation and its future direction will be provided as decisions are made. (Searchlight SVG)
