AK-47 case facts to be heard next month

The facts in the case of a man who admitted to possessing an unlicensed AK-47 and 20 rounds of ammunition will be heard in the No. 2 Supreme Court next month.

Charles Basdeo Samaroo, 35, of 2nd Avenue, Paddock Road, St Michael, appeared before Justice Douglas Frederick and pleaded guilty to having a 7.62 x 39mm calibre AK-47 pistol without a valid licence and 20 rounds of ammunition without a valid permit on November 17, 2025.

Principal State Counsel Rudolph Burnett accepted the plea and will read the facts of the case on November 26.

Samaroo is represented by Senior Counsel Angella Mitchell-Gittens, who requested a pre-sentence report.
