Ellerton squandered the opportunity to close the gap on the league leaders, following another crucial night of Barbados Football Association Premier League action at the Wildey Technical Centre on Monday.
Playing in the night’s lone encounter, Torian Joseph put the 2025 Division One runners-up Bagatelle in the lead in the 20th minute. He received a long ball over the top of the midfield and despite loud and sustained appeals for a handball by the Ellerton defence, the goal was not ruled out after Joseph finished clinically to the left of Ellerton goalkeeper Kerry Holder.
The scoreline remained the same until the 67th minute, when Ellerton skipper Shakille Belle capitalised on a defensive error by Bagatelle to easily slot the ball past Bagatelle goalkeeper Kevon Allsopp.
With no further goals forthcoming, the draw saw Ellerton move one place up the table to fourth position on 24 points, the same as Kickstart Rush, who have an inferior goal difference. Bagatelle meanwhile remained in sixth position, having moved up to 15 points and further away from the relegation zone.
When action continues at the Technical Centre on Thursday with a double header, Kick Start Rush tackle Eyre’s Meat Shop Pride of Gall Hill at 7 p.m.
Victory would see Kickstart move up to third position and surpass Brittons Hill United, while eighth placed Gall Hill will be desperate for a win that would put more distance between themselves and ninth placed St Andrew Lions, who currently occupy one of two relegation positions alongside Wotton.
The nightcap game at 9 p.m. will feature Wotton and an UWI Blackbirds team that will be expecting to take the full three points despite a tough season following a major rebuild of their squad. Usually title challengers, UWI are seventh in the table on 13 points.
