Police issue Crop Over safety advisory

The Barbados Police Service is reminding the public to prioritise safety and responsible conduct as Crop Over 2026 enters its final major events.

Police officers will be deployed at event venues, parade routes, traffic corridors and surrounding communities, with support from the Barbados Defence Force, to assist with maintaining public safety and order.

Commissioner of Police Sonia Boyce urged revellers, spectators, drivers and visitors to cooperate with police, event officials and emergency personnel during the festival period.

“Crop Over is one of Barbados’ most cherished national celebrations. The Barbados Police Service wants everyone to enjoy the music, culture, colour and fellowship of the season, but enjoyment must never come at the expense of public safety, public order or respect for others,” Boyce said.

The Police Service issued a warning against unauthorised persons entering or interfering with registered bands during Foreday Morning Jam and Grand Kadooment Day.

Police said band incursion, obstruction of routes, disorderly conduct, fighting, dangerous driving, impaired driving and other offences will be dealt with firmly.

Members of the public are also advised to follow all traffic arrangements, avoid drinking and driving, and cooperate with lawful instructions from police officers and event personnel.

The remaining major Crop Over events include the Pic-O-De-Crop Final, Foreday Morning Jam, Bridgetown Market, Grand Kadooment Day and Cohobblopot. (TBPS)
