President of the Barbados National Council of Parent Teacher Associations (BNCPTA), Nicole Brathwaite, has strongly condemned the shooting near an educational institution at Eden Lodge, St Michael, on Tuesday morning.
Describing the incident as “unacceptable”, Brathwaite expressed concern about the potential risk to children, particularly as many parents would have already dropped them off at school.
“This is not just unfortunate, this is unacceptable,” she said, adding that incidents of this nature place innocent children at risk.
She urged parents to remain calm and follow the guidance of the Barbados Police Service as efforts continue to ensure the safety and reunification of students.
Brathwaite also called on citizens to remain vigilant and work together to demand safer communities.
“Our children deserve nothing less,” she said.
