The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is monitoring a tropical wave which is forecast to be in the region on Sunday.
BMS says there are no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados for the system which was near 32W at 2 p.m. today, but current model guidance suggests there is some potential for tropical cyclone development over the next 48 hours.
As it approaches the Lesser Antilles over the weekend, environmental conditions are expected to become less conducive for development.
Much of the activity associated with this feature is likely to be over the Leeward Islands with relatively light winds, and warm conditions possible for Barbados with the chance of localised afternoon showers.
The public is advised to stay alert for updates.
The next be will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow, or sooner if conditions warrant. (PR/SAT)
