Woman guilty of 2007 murder

It was a smiling Haniyfa Reza White who walked into the dock of the No. 5 Supreme Court around
4 p.m. yesterday.

She had spent about an hour and 45 minutes waiting in the foyer of the Supreme Court Complex as the jury deliberated in the wake of Justice Pamela Beckles’ summation of the evidence and the law in her murder trial.

But ten minutes later, the smile was replaced by a look that suggested tears as she heard the foreman, of the 12-member jury, reveal they had found her guilty of murdering her former Six Men’s, St Peter neighbour Julene Bryan on May 14, 2007.

Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Krystal Delaney, who prosecuted along with Senior State Counsel Kevin Forde, asked that the convicted murderer be remanded to prison, while White’s attorney Safiya Moore requested the preparation of a pre-sentencing report on the first-time offender.
